BridgeAtSchools, Inc.
"Giving Youth a Hand for the Future"
Anyone can teach bridge by using our lesson plans but some previous knowledge of at least social bridge or other trump games such as spades is desired. Teachers may contact us to arrange a refresher course for themselves or to arrange for a mentor to assist them as they progress with the lessons.

In-School Program

Our core program will include bridge classes as part of the regular curriculum, which will operate within public and private elementary and middle schools.  Our bridge coordinators and mentors can assist the schools in setting up bridge classes as part of the regularly scheduled school day.  The students in our program can include a variety of achievement levels, including special education.  We will provide lesson plans which can be downloaded free from this web site. Bridge materials such as classroom duplicate boards and score sheets, etc. can be arranged for participating schools if they cannot secure the funding for them. Proper registration of the program and details such as how many students are participating and any other needs the school has must be done in order for us to arrange that funding.

After-School Program

Preferably our after-school bridge programs will operate in participating schools and will be open to the entire student population, space permitting.  Our bridge clubs will allow students to enjoy an intellectually stimulating activity in a safe environment. Please let us know if the after-school bridge program at the participating school is restricted in any way in its membership.

The program is designed for anyone to be able to teach beginner bridge players which allows greater opportunities for students to learn bridge.

After school clubs should usually meet one day a week for two hours or according to the school schedule; however, schools with teams may have additional clubs hours as needed. Once students have begun the lessons additional time may be allotted as they practice what they are learning. We found in the pilot programs that students enjoyed the "play" time practicing what they learned and are eager for the next lesson.

Master Program (This program has not been developed as of yet. We are awaiting further funding to assure the success of this program.)

Since the BridgeAtSchools, Inc. in and after-school programs will serve primarily 4-8th grades, our Master program will serve High school and College students who still wish to develop their bridge playing skills.  By integrating bridge lessons, mentoring, internship opportunities, and college workshops, Master students will be prepared to succeed in high school, college and beyond.
